Jonathan I. CloudYouth Advocacy Educational Forum

The Appleton League has announced that, due to the winter storm, this event will not take place on Monday, January 28. It will be rescheduled for a later date. Stay tuned!

Jonathan Cloud will speak on research findings on brain development and effects of childhood trauma on youth behavior. This research has led to new strategies and changes to training on how juveniles should be treated in juvenile justice programs.

The Post-Crescent recently ran an article on the forum, available here.

The Facebook page for this event is available here.

Cloud has thirty-three years of human services experience. He has worked in the fields of community organizing, mental health, child protective services, foster care, youth development, and juvenile justice. In these areas he performed case management, administrative, and program design and development duties.

He is author of Parenting the Guardian Class: Validating Spirited Youth, Ending Adolescence, and Renewing America’s Greatness, which argues for empowering youth rather than controlling them.

Jonathan holds B.A. degrees in Religion and Psychology and continued his graduate studies in Public Administration and Social Work. This educational forum will provide background information prior to the Youth Advocacy Consensus meeting which will be held on Wednesday February 6 at 6:30 at the Appleton Public Library.
